How I’m going:

Early July 2025.
It’s the middle of winter here in Melbourne, and most days barely hit 10º. Working from home in the cold isn’t ideal, and the rainy days only make that feeling of S.A.D. worse. I know it’ll pass when the weather warms up, so I’m trying to be kind to myself in the meantime.

When the sun’s out and I’ve had time to myself, I’ve been going on long walks. The video above is from last Friday—just a quiet moment during lunch. I’d grabbed some sandwiches in the CBD, then caught a train for half an hour to some nearby wetlands. No one else was around. It was just me, my sandwich, and a Kookaburra hunting for its lunch by the water’s edge.

Lately, slowing down and being in nature has been my way to recharge (recent trip to Tasmania was perfect). Nothing in nature wants anything from you. It’s not trying to sell you something or perform. It doesn’t care about ideologies, attention, or judgment. (Though it will try to make you fall in the river when you slip on a muddy bank and face-plant.)

Honestly, I’m happiest when I’m outdoors—just being in it.
