Childhood Auto

The four vehicles pile together in a tangled, upended heap that fills the frame, a ute, sedans and wheels overlapping as if caught mid-collision. Harsher than the single works, the scene is saturated with yellow, deep magenta and near-black, with flecks of colour scattered across a pale, grainy sky.

These are the cars and shapes etched into my mind making up part of my Australian childhood, Falcons, Kingswoods, LandCruisers and Toyota sedans. They represent people, events, moments in time framed via those cars being always present in the background.

In the 3D rendering stage, they were never allowed to become fully realised, much like how memory just lingers and twinkles with sparks of shapes and forms, bathed in the glow of nostalgia and childhood awe.
