Inner-north Melbourne. Last run Friday 30 October 2026.
A 14-episode geolocated audio walk through Brunswick and Coburg's queer history — Pentridge Prison, drag at Brunswick pubs, a beat murder at Clifton Park, Queer Nation activism, tram depot organising. Serious and specific, not generic Pride content. Launched Feb 2025 and still live.
A Deakin University-produced audio walk up High St from Merri Creek, past the Westgarth Cinema and Ruckers Hill, finishing in All Nations Park — looking at how different communities have shaped Northcote from pre-colonisation to today. First in a "Discovering Darebin" series.
Check first. The free web preview covers the intro and stop summaries; the full audio experience with 5 additional stops needs the app.
An interactive Aboriginal-history walking trail through Melbourne's CBD, developed by the Koorie Heritage Trust with the ARC Centre for the History of Emotions. Re-animates the three surviving sites of 1995's Another View Walking Trail to surface local Aboriginal histories obscured by the city's built environment.
A short self-guided street-art walk from Juddy Roller Studios up through Fitzroy, focused on work by female street artists (Makatron, Deb, Kaff-Eine) — an unusual curatorial angle rather than a generic laneway highlights reel.
Check first. Curated in 2015 by a Unimelb student project — street art gets painted over, so some described works may no longer be there. Still a good excuse for a wander up Johnston/Brunswick/Rose St even if a few stops have changed.
A self-guided sound walk across the Abbotsford Convent grounds by Japanese sound artist Akio Suzuki with dancer Hiromi Miyakita — a map-and-journal kit for slow, deliberate listening to the site.
Check first. Part of the WinterLIVE season — confirm it's still running before making a special trip; kit collected Mon-Fri 9am-4pm only.
